No one loves to entertain the thought of having mold in their homes. The consequences of mold infestation may be detrimental and it is imperative to do away with them as soon as you realize their presence. But for you to do this, you should learn how to identify the presence of mold in your home and here are some of the signs you should look out for-:
A strange odor
Mold has a characteristic pungent smell. When it is confined in a section of your house, you may notice an objectionable odor coming from that section. Mold infestation can happen behind the wallpaper or right within the walls and you may not immediately recognize that the smell is due to mold. If the smell refuses to go away, know that you are probably dealing with mold.
Physical appearance of mold
Distinguishing normal soap scum and mold in your shower stall or bathtub is easy. However, you may not find it that easy in your basement or in the cellar and you may have to look harder. Most of the times, mold will infest wet or damp areas therefore if you notice that the some sections of the walls or the floor is dump, you could as well see mold forming in such areas.
Since mold is not always visible, it is not easy to tell precisely whether or not you are suffering from mold symptoms. If you feel congestion when breathing, watery and itchy eyes or you feel listless when at home, these could potentially signify that you are suffering from mold symptoms. If you realize that you only feel these or any other mold related symptoms at home, yet everything is okay when you are at work or away from home, this will be a confirmation that mold is the culprit.
